We're pleased to announce that Barbara Brower, NBCR will be speaking on Friday of the 2017 Michigan Nursing Summit, October 11-13. Brower will speak on Applied Reflexology: Pain Management and Breast Cancer Research.
Brower is the founder of Branch Reflexology Institute in East Lansing and is a Nationally Board Certified Reflexologist. She is also the founder of Footnotes For Health, which was the first professional Reflexology business in the Greater Lansing Area. Brower is an educator, lecturer and a published author on Reflexology and alternative therapies. Her interest in holistic health started in the late 1970’s, taking in a variety of holistic trainings. She has been practicing 37 years full-time in reflexology. In the last decade, Branch Reflexology Institute became a licensed school in the State of Michigan where students can be certified and registered with her school. Her number one passion continues to be reflexology; whether it is in a one-on-one session with her or helping others to learn the benefits using it on themselves.
Brower will be accompanied in her presentation by Rebecca Sundeen, NBCR. Sundeen is the owner of In Step Relexology, and a Teacher and Trainer at Branch Reflexology Institute, LLC.
Both Brower and Sundeen have both had leadership roles in a recent study with Michigan State University. Brower created the protocol and frequency for the $3.1 million dollar grant awarded to the MSU School of Nursing from the National Institutes of Health to study the effects of reflexology on women with breast cancer going through chemotherapy. The 5-year study showed that reflexology was successful in helping these women with their side effects. There are currently 2 more grants in process at MSU.
