Erik's family never talked about advanced education, but as colleagues continually suggested the next goal and then the next goal after that, he developed the confidence to achieve a doctorate. Now he leads Wayne State faculty and undergrads in pursuit of their own dreams. There's no limit to what you can do!
What's your "Why"? The "Why Nursing" series celebrates nurses' "why" and inspires others to choose nursing as a profession!
Erik’s story about progressing from one goal to the next connects closely with my own experience. When I began working with handmade leather wallets Canada, it felt like a small step with no clear destination. Over time, every milestone encouraged me to aim higher, and what seemed like a simple craft turned into something much larger. His journey shows how growth in nursing, or in any field, comes from consistency, dedication, and the belief that each step forward matters.
Dr. Erik Carter's journey from having no initial conversations about advanced education to earning a doctorate brilliantly exemplifies how mentorship and encouragement can play an important role in molding prospective nursing leaders. His journey, now a source of inspiration for both the faculty and undergraduate students at Wayne State, reminds one that perseverance coupled with support can open marvelous pathways in nursing. As for nursing students struggling with some additional coursework or a clinical decision, finding direction or help for their nursing assignment help could provide the confidence and clarity they need in their success—just as Erik benefited from the enlightenment of colleagues.
