The research on the improved effectiveness of interprofessional team-based care has gone a long way to answer the question posed by this article's title: "Why is greater emphasis being placed on interprofessional education in health care?"
This perspective from our colleagues in audiology and speech-language pathology should push practicing nurses, nurse educators, nurse leaders, and policymakers to examine ways to support interprofessional education, new models of instruction, and innovative ways to incorporate technology in education.
