We're pleased to welcome Meridell Gracias, RN, DNP, MSN, M.Ed, AGPCNP-BC, CNRN of GVSU for the second day of the 2016 Michigan Nursing Summit, September 29-30. Gracias will be part of a Couch Conversation with Michigan Community Based Nurse Exemplars.
Meridell Gracias a DNP from Kirkhof College of Nursing, and also has MSN and M. Ed degrees from GVSU. Her NP certification is in Adult/Gero primary care. She has also worked in neuroscience nursing since 1975, as a CNS in a physicians' neurosurgical practice. Her passion for serving the needs of underserved communities began with that work, and blossomed during her volunteer work with the Grand Rapids Housing Commission starting in 1998 through the present time. Her doctoral project focused on the chronic health issues of adults in government-subsidized housing related to poverty, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. Currently she teaches community health nursing and professional nursing, and has the opportunity to introduce students to the people who live at one of the Grand Rapids Housing Commission sites and help them to understand the issues they are facing that impact their health. GVSU has made a short video about this project: click to view here.
The panel will be led by Phyllis Meadows, PhD, MSN, RN.
