Lessons Learned from Building an Interprofessional Education Module

As part of Michigan Center for Nursing's work on Michigan Nursing Career Guide, we piloted the interprofessional education module with nurses in four focus groups in Bay City, Grand Rapids, Livonia, and Traverse City.

After presenting the interprofessional education module and soliciting the nurses' feedback, we learned four key points:

  1. All nurses need to learn this information at all levels

  2. This type of education is important to be constantly reinforced over the course of a year

  3. The course needs to be shorter and more modular

  4. Information about how to help teams achieve collaborative practice needs to be included.

We sincerely appreciated these insights and it will go a long way to making this - and future courses we develop - into more information, more useful, and more widely used by Michigan's nurses.
