Hospital acquired infections pose a major risk for the health and well-being of both patients and families. Across the country, there are many great efforts underway to reduce the rate and severity of hospital quired infections (see our story here).
To mark infection prevention week, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology have launched a consumer focused campaign to raise the awareness for infection prevention.
(They also have a portal aimed at answering health care professionals’ questions on infection prevention too!)
Sadly, almost 100,000 people a year die due to health care acquired infections. The APIC’s infographic and monthly newsletter can help your friends, family members and patients avoid these infections.
