Jade Burns, Ph.D., RN, CPNP-PC, to Speak at Upcoming Health Equity Event

We're pleased to share that Dr. Jade Burns will speak at our upcoming conference, Achieving Health Equity Through Growth, Innovation, and Reflection. This virtual nursing event will take place on October 22, 2021. Her presentation will be titled "Young Men's Health Matters".

Dr. Burns is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Health Behavior and Biological Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Nursing.

Dr. Burns has more than 10 years of experience working with youth (ages 0-21) in a variety of clinical, community-based, and academic settings. Her research is centered on innovative approaches using community-engaged research and technology (e.g., social media, mobile apps, messaging) to improve healthcare and sexual health outcomes among adolescents at community health care centers.

Her secondary area of interest is improving nursing practice and training programs in underserved areas. Over the last year, assistant nursing professor Burns has been leading community-centered research in Detroit as part of a dynamic project to improve health education, access, and outcomes for young Black men in urban communities. Before COVID-19, her project, Young Men’s Health Matters, relied on in-person interaction to gain a deeper understanding of the community’s most pressing health care concerns.
