RN Refresher Course - Online
After completion of the RN Refresher course, nurses who have been out of practice for more than 3 years will feel more confident and display competence in their ability to utilize the nursing process in their care or case management of the adult patient resulting in increased job opportunities, improved clinical decision-making, and better patient outcomes.

Work with multiple, complex, adult patient simulations whose health statuses change over time in an interactive, virtual hospital. After a two-hour orientation (held on the WCC Ann Arbor campus) to online classroom environment, participants can access and complete the course within twelve weeks.  Increasing in complexity, by the end of the virtual clinical experience, nurses will apply the nursing process--including medication administration and documentation--to patients with the following diagnoses: pain, fluid, electrolyte and acid-base imbalances, diabetes; lower respiratory and obstructive pulmonary diseases, HTN & A-Fib, ETOH addiction; DVT & PE with comorbidity of DM; cancer; glaucoma, and to patients whose needs are addressed through surgery; palliative care at the EOL; cultural competent care, blood component therapy; and other commonly provided services. Nursing skills videos, supervised skills lab, and a simulation lab on the WCC campus are also available.
